Tune-up Prairie Sketches (all 3 movements) Jump in the Line They Hung Their Harps in the Willows (a leftover from sight reading night. This piece is demanding from the perspective of dynamic nuance and accuracy). Sea Songs Lincoln Poet and Peasant (excerpts of it, at least) Star Trek Through the Years

We would ask that you bring in your Funny Books for this rehearsal as there will be some titles in there that will be reviewed at the rehearsal.

Happy New Year and welcome back to the 2nd half of our 2019/20 HCB season. I hope you all had a good holiday season and I look forward to getting back together on Tuesday nights!
Here’s the running order for our upcoming rehearsal on Tuesday, Jan. 7th at 6:30 pm.
1) Scales (various) 2) Chorales-Bride of Assorted (all) 3) Warm-up piece-Ballet Parisien #1, 4 and 5 4) Lincoln 5) Sea Songs 6) A Childhood Remembered (new) 7) Curtain Call (new) 8) Jump in the Line (new) 9) Spanish Masters #1 Evocation and #2 The Maiden and the Nightingale 10) Selections from Mama Mia (if time)
Also, as a reminder, our January 14th rehearsal will be a full sightreading session with both myself and Mark Cuming leading the band through a number of member-suggested pieces from our own library as well as a refresher look at some older Kent Steerwell titles so please make sure to bring in your Funny Books for that rehearsal. I will, of course, remind you of all of this again next week.

HCB Sad news: Bob Short has passed away
Karen and Dave MacRae are both part of our band.
Karen’s dad passed away on Sunday and this Friday they will have a Celebration of Life at 2 pm at the Bedford Baptist Church on Rocky Lake Drive. His obit is in this morning’s Herald (Robert “Bob” Short). Bob Short was a founding member of the Halifax Concert Band and played trumpet with the band for many years.
