New members have been invited to the Sep 16 rehearsal. 7. Our annual Christmas concert will be on Dec 2, beginning at 7 pm at St Agnes Church in Halifax. 8. Other public performances were discussed. Further information will follow when confirmed. 9. Dave Staples had an announcement:
“As we get set to begin our new season with the Halifax Concert Band, I want to let you all know that I have informed the HCB board that I will be transitioning off the podium this coming year to take some time for travel and relaxation.  I will be conducting the band up until the Christmas concert in December and then will be handing the reins over to a new-to-us conductor. Her name is Holly Leader and she brings a decade of experience as the former director of the Kings Community Concert Band as well as being a skilled trumpet player and music educator. Along with Holly, Fiona MacIntosh-Robar will assume the role of Associate Conductor and we already know of her incredible skills as a leader, conductor, educator and musician.
As for me, my decision is really a matter of timing. I have thoroughly enjoyed working with the Halifax Concert Band as your conductor over the past 10 years and I plan to continue with the band as a player in the trombone section moving forward. It has not been easy to decide to step away from this role but I feel confident that the band will be in very capable hands with Holly and Fiona.
With that, I look forward to seeing you all next Tuesday.”

HCB Important Message from Andrea Dale about PotLuck

Hi everyone – just a few things before we get together tomorrow evening!
I just wanted to clarify that the address to the venue should be 70 Grandhaven Blvd – I mistakenly  said it was 50 but that’s my apartment Bldg number – sorry about that. The clubhouse is a separate building and not in one of the apartment buildings.
If your dish needs a serving spoon, knife, tongs etc please bring it with you – we have everything else!
Any parking outside the clubhouse or parking lots is ok to park in,
See you tomorrow
Andrea

HCB Message from Dave Staples

Hi all,
Thank you all for such a fine performance on Tuesday night at our annual Spring Finale. I think that may come in as one of the longest so far….1 hour and 45 minutes! Just to say again, I really am impressed with all of the dedication, hard work, skilful musicianship and great commitment that you all bring to the Halifax Concert Band and it is a pleasure to be working with you throughout our season.
Mark Cuming’s tribute was a beautiful moment and I know that all members of Mark’s family in attendance were so appreciative and thankful for our performance of his music and respect for his legacy.
I hope to see you all at the potluck on Tuesday!!  (50 Grandhaven Blvd, Halifax, in the clubhouse.)
Take care. Dave
