Hello all and happy Canada Day weekend!! Hopefully summer weather will arrive soon.
It is now time to start thinking about our BandFest being held in Sydney, Cape Breton October 4-6th. This is a very special BandFest as Second Wind, your hosts for the weekend, are celebrating it 25th anniversary! We have had a great year and look forward to topping it all off with a great BandFest with all of you joining us.
I am attaching a flyer for your information and a registration form. All the information should be there but if you have any questions just send them along.
You don’t even need to send me the completed registration form…just flip me back an email (Elizabeth Buffett bandfest.registrar@gmail.com) with the information and I will do the rest.
Note that there are a number of AirBnB accommodations in the area. Check them out on google and if you have any questions let me know and I will check them out for you.
This will definately be a great weekend as we celebrate our history with our great conductors from the past…Rowan, Andrew, Ken, Jolene, Laura with our great clinicians AND demonstrate our committment to the future by introducing a great young talent, Sarah MacDonald who will be conducting the MacKay band. Very exciting.
PS Name That Tune is back on the social agenda!
Thanks Elizabeth

Halifax Concert Band Big Thanks from Dave
Hi all,
I want to let each and every one of you know just how well you played last night and mightily rose to the occasion of what was a really varied and, at times, quite challenging program of music. In many ways, it was the best we’ve performed a lot of those pieces!
There were, in a couple of places, some “sparks off the guard rails” but no crashes and no one got hurt! Let’s forget about those and just enjoy this accomplishment as a group. I was very happy indeed!
On another note, I realized this morning that I forgot to thank Donna Huffman last night for her excellent work with our website this season and I would be remiss if I didn’t send apologies to Donna for that. Donna, please know that we all really appreciate the work that you have done to resurrect the HCB website for this last season and for your continued efforts to keep it current and well managed! Thank you!!
I hope to see you all at the potluck next Tuesday!
Dave
